The Cabinet of Ministers allowed foreigners to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine under a contract

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution that provides for the official involvement of foreign citizens and stateless persons in contract military service. About this reported people’s deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko.

According to the resolution, recruiting centers will be able to organize the transportation of volunteers from abroad, as well as provide them with accommodation and food in Ukraine. All relevant costs will be covered from the state budget – from the Ministry of Defense, the National Guard or the State Special Service of Transport.

As clarified by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, foreigners and stateless persons who have served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard or the State Special Transit Service will be able to apply for Ukrainian citizenship even if they have served for less than three years, provided they have outstanding merits for the state or state interest.

The naturalization procedure involves submitting a declaration of renunciation of previous citizenship, as well as passing exams on knowledge of the Constitution of Ukraine, its history, and the state language.

We will remind that as of the beginning of April, more than 8 thousand ex-convicts joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. About 900 more applications are currently under consideration.

The vast majority of paroled fighters joined the ranks of such units as the 1st Separate Assault Battalion “Da Vinci”, 225th Separate Assault Regiment, 92nd Separate Assault Brigade, 93rd Mechanized Brigade “Kholodny Yar”, 95th Separate Assault Brigade, Third Assault Brigade, as well as other special units of the Security and Defense Forces.
