The Cabinet of Ministers changed the procedure for electronic auctions for the sale of electricity
The government has changed the procedure for conducting electronic auctions for the sale of electricity under bilateral agreements. The new rules expand the opportunities for producers operating at distributed generation facilities. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The new procedure specifies the list of participants in such auctions and the conditions for their participation. Electricity producers at distributed generation facilities can now voluntarily sell electricity through electronic auctions under bilateral agreements.
The government notes that this decision should increase transparency and competition in the market, as well as support the development of decentralized generation. The Cabinet also emphasizes that in the context of regular attacks on energy infrastructure, such a step is important for the stable operation of the country’s critical infrastructure.
Previously, the regulator allowed the termination of electricity supply contracts. The National Commission for the Regulation of the National Energy and Power Sector of Ukraine officially recommended that state institutions and businesses terminate existing contracts if they cannot be performed due to force majeure, and quickly conclude new agreements for uninterrupted power supply.
