The Cabinet of Ministers is implementing additional mechanisms to assist agricultural enterprises
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is starting to implement comprehensive instruments to support the agricultural sector, including insurance of war risks and granting grants for business restoration.
This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko after a meeting with representatives of the industry. According to her, the government will focus on helping enterprises that continue to operate in conditions of constant shelling and loss of infrastructure, ensuring the food security of the state.
The support program provides for two main financial mechanisms. The first is insurance of war risks, which will allow farmers to receive compensation for losses in the amount of up to 30 million hryvnias. The second instrument is targeted grants for the restoration of damaged equipment, the amount of which can reach 16 million hryvnias per farm. These funds should help businesses quickly return to work after enemy attacks.
“Agricultural farms are working under fire, losing people, equipment and infrastructure, but they continue production, supporting communities, the economy and food security”, — emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko.
Special attention during the dialogue was paid to logistical challenges in front-line regions. The government is working on the issue of protecting farmers directly during field work, in particular through the implementation of a program to provide farmers with electronic warfare means. Creating conditions for the unhindered export of crops from dangerous areas also remains a priority.
“The government is also working on compensating for losses due to the construction of fortifications on agricultural lands. The relevant bill has already passed the first reading in the relevant committee,” she noted.
A special focus of state support will be directed at farmers working in a 20-kilometer zone from the line of combat contact. For them, a special list of territories is being formed in the State Agrarian Register, which will allow targeted assistance programs to be launched. In addition, the Prime Minister instructed to maintain constant contact with business to adapt the agricultural sector to the requirements of the European Union regarding environmental standards and tax rules.
“We are forming a list of territories in the State Agrarian Register and targeted support programs so that the assistance is as fast and effective as possible”, — summarized Svyrydenko.
The final stage of the meeting was a discussion of the European integration progress of the industry. Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized the need to form a common negotiating position with business on joining the EU. This includes an assessment of the environmental impact and the introduction of new rules that will make Ukrainian products even more competitive in international markets.
