The chief of staff of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and his accomplices will be tried for organizing the escape of conscripts
Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office submitted to the court an indictment against the head of one of the departments of the headquarters of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who also held a senior position in the Kyiv City Military Administration, as well as against the head of the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support and the temporary acting head of the Military medical commission of one of the districts of Kyiv.
They are nominated accusation in the illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine and the abuse of official powers by military officials (Part 3 of Article 332, Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In addition, the head of the TCC and SP and the acting chairman of the military medical commission are accused of official forgery (Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation materials, the suspects organized the illegal transportation of men of military age across the border. They issued fictitious documents on unfitness for military service, which allowed these persons to leave Ukraine without hindrance.
Illegal document preparation services cost the evaders 10,000 US dollars per person.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), which also provided operational support for the case.
The Prosecutor General’s Office emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine to combat corruption offenses.
According to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, every person is considered innocent of committing a crime until his guilt is proven in a court of law and established by a guilty verdict.
