The Council proposes to exempt mothers from military service, regardless of their marital status

The initiative was proposed by People's Deputy from the faction "Servant of the People" Serhiy Hryvko.

People’s deputy from the Servant of the People faction, Serhiy Hryvko, proposes to the Verkhovna Rada to release mothers of minor children from military service, regardless of their marital status. This initiative is enshrined in draft laws № 11485.

According to the explanatory note, current legislation provides for the possibility of exemption from military service during martial law for wives if both spouses are in military service and have a child(ren) under the age of 18.

“This excludes the possibility of exemption from military service during martial law for women who have a child(ren) under the age of 18 and are not in a registered marriage with the father of the child(ren).”, says the explanatory note.

The draft law proposes to grant the right to exemption from military service to women who have a child(ren) under the age of 18, if both parents are in military service, regardless of their marital status.

It is also known that 19 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada propose to the parliament to exempt non-consanguineous brothers and sisters of dead or missing soldiers from mobilization.
