The Czech government will pay refugees to return to Ukraine
The Czech Republic plans to launch a program to return Ukrainian refugees home. We are talking about a financial incentive for those who voluntarily decided to leave the Czech Republic for Ukraine. However, you should not expect significant compensation – Ukrainians will only be bought tickets. Also, with the help of equipped cars, those who need constant medical supervision will be transported.
The pilot program will run from June to November. About 6 million Czech crowns will be spent on it.
“The total capacity of the pilot program is 430 people. For 400 people, a bus ticket from their place of residence in the Czech Republic to their place of stay in Ukraine will be provided. For the remaining 30 people with a complicated health condition, medical transport will be provided for their return,” – said in Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country.
It is worth noting that if a person decides to return to the Czech Republic, part of the funds received from the government will have to be returned.
Given the fact that the Czech Republic became the country from which the largest number of Ukrainian refugees returned last year, such a proposal looks quite rational. During March, more Ukrainian refugees left 9 EU countries than entered them. In particular, by 20.7 thousand (-5.4%) the number of our fellow citizens in the Czech Republic has decreased.
