The EU increased quotas for imports of Ukrainian agricultural products

The European Union has increased quotas for the import of Ukrainian agricultural products within the framework of the updated free trade agreement. About this informs Reuters.

According to the new conditions, the quota for the import of Ukrainian wheat increased from 1 million to 1.3 million tons, sugar – from 20,000 to 100,000 tons, barley – from 350,000 to 450,000 tons, and poultry meat – from 90,000 to 120,000 tons.

These adjustments are part of a preliminary trade agreement reached between the EU and Ukraine at the end of June. The document covers 40 categories of goods and is currently awaiting official approval by EU member states by qualified majority.

We will remind that after the start of a full-scale war in 2022, the EU temporarily canceled customs duties and trade restrictions for Ukrainian agricultural exports due to the complications of sea transportation in the Black Sea. However, from June 6, 2025, the EU returned to standard pre-war trade rules, ending the temporary benefits introduced in 2022.

Tariff quotas for Ukrainian goods will be valid from June 6 to December 31, 2025. Their volume is defined as 7/12 of the annual norm, which corresponds to the number of months remaining before the end of the year.
