The EU reacted to Hungary’s decision to limit aid to Ukrainian refugees

The European Commission has begun a detailed analysis of the Hungarian government’s new resolution, which provides for the termination of social benefits for Ukrainian refugees who arrived from regions where hostilities were not carried out. About this reported spokeswoman of the European Commission, Anita Hipper, emphasizing that the commission is already aware of this move by Hungary, but needs time to carefully study the resolution and its potential consequences.
Hipper emphasized that the position of the EU remains unchanged: the European Union continues to provide protection to all those fleeing Russian aggression. She emphasized that the EU will continue to provide support to Ukrainian refugees, as much as it will be necessary.
She also reminded that the temporary protection provided to Ukrainians in the EU includes access to housing, the labor market, social security, medical services and other necessary assistance in all EU member states.
According to Hipper, Hungary recently introduced a new regulation that provides for the termination of social benefits for some categories of Ukrainian refugees. The European Commission is currently analyzing this decision and plans to contact the Hungarian authorities for further information.
It is worth noting that in material the “Fact” edition reported that since August 20, Hungary stopped providing support to certain categories of Ukrainian refugees, which was the result of changes in the aid system introduced by the government of this country.
