The European Parliament will hold a vote of no confidence in European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen

Next week, the European Parliament plans to hold a vote of no confidence in European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. About this informs Euronews.

The initiative was put forward by MEP Gheorghe Pipera, a representative of the far-right Romanian party “Alliance for the Union of Romanians” (AUR). He collected 73 signatures in support of his submission — one more than the minimum threshold required, which is one-tenth of the composition of the parliament (72 deputies).

The reason for the no-confidence motion was Piperi’s outrage over von der Leyen’s secret correspondence with Pfizer CEO Albert Burla during negotiations on the procurement of vaccines against COVID-19. In addition, the president of the European Commission is accused of the possible misuse of funds after the pandemic, as well as the promotion of “green policy” through the financing of non-governmental organizations.

The debate on this issue can take place on Tuesday, July 8, and the vote on Thursday, July 10, provided that the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, makes an official announcement by the end of this week.

It will be recalled that on June 27, the European Commission confirmed its readiness to continue economic and financial support to Ukraine, in particular by providing up to 11 billion euros in 2025 within the framework of the G7 credit initiative.
