The United States presented a bipartisan resolution on the non-recognition of the occupied territories of Ukraine as Russian

US House of Representatives Republican Brian Fitzpatrick with colleagues presented draft bipartisan resolution, which states that the official policy of the US government is not to recognize any claims of Russia to the occupied sovereign territories of Ukraine.

Fitzpatrick emphasized that the sovereignty of Ukraine is inviolable, and its independence is absolute. According to him, any attempts to recognize Russia’s territorial claims are a “betrayal of international law and democratic values.”

“Just as we refused to recognize the Soviet annexation of the Baltic states, we must never legitimize Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Borders cannot be redrawn by force.” – the congressman explained.

The resolution on non-recognition of territories occupied by Russia clearly states that the borders of Ukraine, defined in 1991, remain unchanged and belong to Ukraine – regardless of illegal military occupation, political pressure or attempts at violent annexation by Russia. The document also rejects any US action or policy that might imply recognition of Russia’s territorial claims.
