The flag of the 50th Regiment of the National Guard with the names of the dead and missing flew on top of Hoverla

The participants of the event successfully overcame the route despite all the difficulties.

This weekend, a touching event took place on the highest mountain of Ukraine, Hoverly. Servicemen of the 50th regiment named after Colonel Semen Vysochan together with the families of fallen and missing soldiers climbed the peak. This is stated in messages on the regiment’s Facebook page.

The event was dedicated to honoring the memory of all fallen and missing soldiers of the regiment.

“Our ascent today had a deeper meaning than just conquering the summit. We sought to honor the memory of our heroes – those whom we still hope to see alive, and those who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine. Having risen to this height, we seem to have become closer to them, and they to us. This is our way of reminding everyone of their sacrifice and keeping their memory alive.” – shared Colonel Vadym Linevskyi, commander of military unit 1241.

On the top of Hoverly, the flag of the 50th regiment was solemnly raised, on which were written the names and surnames of all dead and missing soldiers. This symbolic gesture reminds everyone of the high price of the struggle for independent Ukraine.

“This trip was special for my son and me. Denis, who is only five years old, has long dreamed of conquering Hoverla. And so, this became his third conquered peak. We both received a sea of positive emotions, which are so lacking now. I believe that such events in honor of our Heroes should be held more often. Denis and I will gladly join them again”, – shared Halyna Melnyk, ex-wife of missing serviceman Ruslan Melnyk.
