Most Germans negatively assess the activities of the government and Chancellor Friedrich Merz
In Germany, the majority of citizens have a negative opinion of the government coalition and Chancellor Friedrich Merz. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the ZDF.
According to the survey, 72% of respondents believe that the coalition of the CDU/CSU and the Social Democrats is working rather poorly. 24% of respondents hold the opposite opinion.
27% of respondents are satisfied with the work of Chancellor Friedrich Merz, while 69% assessed it negatively.
In addition, 63% of respondents believe that the Christian Democratic Union does not provide the chancellor with full support. Among CDU/CSU supporters, this opinion is shared by 52%.
At the same time, 52% of respondents assume that the current government will be able to work until the next Bundestag elections, scheduled for 2029. Another 43% expect his work to be completed early.
Another poll showed that Friedrich Merz’s popularity has fallen to an all-time low. Against this backdrop, the far-right AfD has reached record levels of support in the polls and widened its lead over the ruling CDU/CSU bloc.
