According to the government’s decision, gas prices for households will remain unchanged until the end of April next year. However, the number of companies providing gas supply services to households decreased in September, and from 1 November there will be fewer offers on the market.
‘GazPravda reports that the Cabinet of Ministers has extended the special obligations (PSO) for gas supply, which means that the cost of gas for household consumers, heat and power producers and gas distribution network operators will not change until 30 April 2025. Thus, households will pay for gas at the rate of UAH 7.96 per cubic metre, while the price for other categories of consumers will vary from UAH 7.42 to UAH 16.50 per cubic metre.
As for the gas delivery tariff, it will be recalculated in 2025. Although the tariff itself will not change, bills will take into account the volume of fuel consumed for the gas year that ended in September 2024.
It is especially important to submit meter readings in early October, as the volume of gas consumed between 1 October 2023 and 30 September 2024 will affect the cost of delivery in 2025.
It is noted that gas distribution tariffs, although unchanged, vary depending on the gas distribution network operator. They can be found on the websites of the respective companies. However, the final amount in the bill may change, as it depends not only on the tariff but also on the volume of consumption.
The calculation of the cost of gas transmission is based on the average consumption for the previous gas year divided by 12 months and then multiplied by the tariff. Thus, as consumption increases, the delivery fee also increases.
The total cost of gas transmission across Ukraine ranges from UAH 0.38 to 2.39 per cubic metre and depends on the number of consumers in the region: the more people use gas, the lower the tariff, as the cost of maintaining the infrastructure is spread over a larger number of customers.
