The government has changed the procedure for payments for the death or injury of defenders of Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers approved new amounts of compensation for Ukrainian servicemen who died or were disabled not as a result of hostilities. This is stated in the relevant resolution government and messages Ministry of Veteran Affairs.
Under the new rules, one-time payments will be provided in cases of servicemen who are killed, declared missing or disabled, if they did not have the status of a serviceman at the time of injury or death.
In case of death (death) of a military person, one-time assistance will amount to 750 subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons as of January 1 of the current year, which is equal to 2.71 million hryvnias.
The amount of compensation in case of disability will depend on its group:
- Group I — 400 subsistence minimums (approximately 1.21 million hryvnias);
- II group — 300 subsistence minimums (approximately 980 thousand hryvnias);
- Group III — 250 subsistence minimums (approximately 757 thousand hryvnias).
It is worth noting that these new payments do not replace the standard compensation in the amount of 15 million hryvnias provided for the families of fallen servicemen. The updated rules apply to those cases when persons did not have the status of military personnel and their death or injury occurred under circumstances not related to martial law.
In order to receive a one-time financial aid, it is necessary to submit an appropriate application to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. This can be done both in paper and electronic form, or through the “Action” application.
