The Government of Ukraine has launched an open competition process for the position of Head of the State Customs Service
On August 4, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine started the process of an open competition for the position of the head of the State Customs Service. About this reported Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko.
According to her, the competition commission included representatives of Ukrainian business and international experts from the anti-corruption and customs sphere. From Ukraine, Andriy Yerashov – head of the analytical center of the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs, Dmytro Oliynyk – head of the Council of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, and Oleg Tymkiv – director of business development at the auditing company “Moor Stevens” are participating.
The international partners are represented by Arunas Adomenas – customs attaché of Lithuania to the EU, an expert in the field of customs policy, David Bernstein – a specialist in governance and institutional reforms, and Kunio Mikuria – an international expert in customs policy and organizational leadership.
“Also, the government approved a medium-term plan of measures for the implementation of the customs reform — this is one of the key directions in the National Revenue Strategy until 2030. The reformed customs must establish equal rules for all participants in the economy and become a source of stable revenues for the state budget.” Yulia Svyridenko said.
We will remind, the only head of the State Customs Service, who was appointed as a result of the competition, was Maksym Nefyodov. He was elected in July 2019 under the government of Volodymyr Groysman. Already in April 2020, Nefyodov was dismissed by the government led by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy then explained his resignation by the decrease in budget revenues in 2019. After that, competitions for the post of head of customs were not held, as well as for most other management positions in state institutions and enterprises.
