The head of a charitable foundation in the Khmelnytskyi region misappropriated donations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine worth over a million hryvnias

Police Khmelnytskyi reported the suspicion of the head of a charitable foundation who embezzled more than a million hryvnias collected to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the National Police, in 2024 the suspect opened an account to collect funds for the purchase of cars for the military.

“The man embezzled and turned the 700 thousand hryvnias received in this way to his own benefit,” – the law enforcement officers reported.

In addition, he convinced two military acquaintances to give him 400 thousand UAH to buy a car that was never purchased.

Investigators announced suspicion under Part 3 of Article 201-2 (use of charitable donations for the purpose of profit) and Part 4 of Article 190 (fraud committed under martial law on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
