The Houthis attacked a Ukrainian ship in the Gulf of Aden: a sailor was injured

The Yemeni Houthis launched a missile attack on the Ukrainian cargo ship Verbena, which was on its way from Malaysia to Italy. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out on board the ship, one sailor was seriously injured and was evacuated by the American military.

Details informs Central Command of the US Armed Forces.

The Iran-backed Houthis launched two anti-ship cruise missiles into the Gulf of Aden. Both missiles hit the Verbena, a Ukrainian bulk carrier operated by a Polish Palau-flagged carrier. The Verbena recently docked in Malaysia and was on its way to Italy with wooden construction materials.” – the message says.

US Central Command condemned the Houthis’ actions, calling them reckless and threatening the security of shipping in the region. The US military has pledged to continue working with partners to bring the Houthis to justice.

This is not the first Houthi attack on civilian vessels in the Gulf of Aden. Militants regularly fire on merchant and humanitarian ships, causing casualties and hampering the delivery of aid to Yemen and Gaza.
