The Hrynkevychs’ case will be referred to court: SBI completes pre-trial investigation (video)

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) completed the pre-trial investigation in the case of Lviv businessman Ihor Hrinkevich and members of an organized criminal group, including his son Roman. They are accused of supplying low-quality military clothing for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a total amount of over 1 billion hryvnias. About this reported DBR press office.
The materials of the criminal proceedings have now been handed over to the defense for review, after which the indictment will be sent to the court.
On September 9, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv extended the term of detention of four suspects until November 1, 2024. The court also set bail amounts for the suspects: UAH 360 million, UAH 302 million, UAH 250 million, and UAH 160 million, respectively.
Suspicions against Ihor and Roman Hrinkevich arose in 2023, when the SBI initiated criminal proceedings on the fact of fraud with the procurement of clothing for the Armed Forces. Companies under his control won 23 tenders for the supply of military clothing to the Ministry of Defense in the amount of over 1.5 billion hryvnias. However, these enterprises did not have adequate production capacity to manufacture clothes, which led to losses to the state budget of 1.2 billion hryvnias and delays in supply.
On December 29, 2023, the SBI reported the detention of Ihor Hrinkevich for attempting to bribe an employee of the Bureau in the amount of half a million US dollars. The bribe was to help return the property seized during the investigation.
