The IMF has started negotiations with Ukraine regarding a new tranche of financing
On May 23, a team of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Alfred Kammer, head of the European Department of the IMF, arrived in Kyiv to hold meetings with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities.
As reported permanent representative of the IMF in Ukraine Vahram Stepanyan, the main topics of discussion will be the challenges faced by the Ukrainian economy as a result of the war, and the goals of the government’s economic policy.
After the meetings in Kyiv, the IMF mission led by Gavin Gray will continue discussions with the Ukrainian side in Warsaw, starting on May 27. These negotiations will focus on economic policy issues related to the fulfillment of the terms of the fourth review of the Enhanced Financing Program (EFF).
Back in March, Ukraine received another tranche of financing from the International Monetary Fund as part of the EFF program. The previous visit of the International Monetary Fund delegation to Kyiv took place in October 2023. It should be noted that on September 25, the IMF mission began work in Warsaw to prepare the second revision of the EFF extended financing program. The successful completion of this revision will allow Ukraine to receive the third tranche of the loan in the amount of $900 million by the end of this year.
