The military will not pay for the storage of reproductive cells: the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a decision according to which servicemen will be able to donate and store their reproductive cells free of charge in medical institutions. About this reported in the Ministry of Health.

The purpose of this decision is to provide military personnel with the right to preserve their reproductive health and biological parentage or maternity, even under the conditions of the risks associated with military service, as provided by law.

The service can be used by both servicemen of the Armed Forces and employees of other agencies participating in hostilities or performing national security tasks. The collection and storage of biological material is possible in medical institutions that have the appropriate capabilities and a contract with the National Health Service.

In the state budget for 2025, UAH 190 million is provided for this project. Military personnel will have the opportunity to apply to designated medical institutions that will enter into contracts with the National Health Service for the delivery and storage of their reproductive cells.

Those who have previously transferred biological material and paid for its storage themselves will be able to continue to store it free of charge after submitting an appropriate application to the health care institution.
