The Ministry of Education and Science has adopted a decision regarding students from temporarily occupied territories
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has approved a list of Ukrainian higher education institutions that will recognize the educational results of students who received their education in the temporarily occupied territories starting in 2026. This decision creates an opportunity for such students to integrate into the national Ukrainian education system and continue their studies in the controlled territory. This was reported on December 10 by the press service of the Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The Ministry of Education and Science issued an order that identifies specific higher education institutions that will have the right to assess the knowledge and competencies of students from the temporarily occupied territories. Starting next year, 43 Ukrainian universities will be able to conduct professional assessments, interviews, or additional tests to confirm the academic results and professional skills of individuals who studied at TOT.
The adoption of this order was carried out in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 871 to regulate the procedure for recognizing academic results from temporarily occupied territories and ensure that students have the opportunity to return to the Ukrainian educational environment.
“The Representation actively cooperates with the Ministry of Education and Science to implement initiatives that guarantee the rights of residents of occupied Crimea in the field of education. The order is an important step towards integrating Ukrainian citizens from the temporarily occupied territories into the national educational space and ensuring their right to quality education, the message states.
Despite the difficult circumstances, students from the TOT continue to enroll in Ukrainian universities, and higher education institutions are trying to adapt their curricula for them.
