The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned the ambassador of Hungary due to sanctions against “Magyar”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned the ambassador of Hungary in Kyiv in connection with Budapest’s decision to ban the entry of the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovda “Magyar”. This was reported by the head of the Foreign Ministry Andrii Sybiha.
“The ambassador was handed a note of protest in response to Hungary’s discrimination against the Hungarian minority in Ukraine, in particular our defender of Hungarian origin, who was banned from entering the country of his ancestors, – the message says.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Ukraine calls on Budapest to continue to “refrain from unfriendly actions and instead join a constructive dialogue, for which Ukraine remains ready”.
Let us remind you that on August 28, the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry Peter Szijarto announced that the country will ban the entry of the commander of the Armed Forces, who led the attack on the “Druzhba” oil pipeline. The ban also applies to entry into the entire Schengen zone.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his part stated that Hungarian officials are trying to shift the blame for the ongoing war to Ukraine:
“We in Ukraine have positively received all the world’s proposals for a ceasefire and real diplomacy, and the only one who rejected them is Russia. Unfortunately, there is still no fair reaction of Hungary to this behavior of Russia, as there is not even sympathy for the death of our people: in just one night and in Kyiv alone, Russian drones and rockets took the lives of 17 people, including four children.
However, new accusations against Ukraine are heard from Hungary every day. Hungarian officials have reached the point of trying to discriminate against representatives of the Hungarian community in Ukraine for their participation in the protection of our state and people.
