The Ministry of Justice published the statistics of births, marriages and divorces for 2024: Kyiv is in the first place

During the first half of 2024, more than 87,600 babies were born in Ukraine. Ukrainians registered more than 72,600 marriages, and there were almost five times less divorces – more than 15,500. Kyiv is the leader in all indicators, reported in the Ministry of Justice.

Birth rate

The most children in the first six months of 2024 were born in:

• Kyiv — 9,695;
• Lviv region — 7,923;
• Dnipropetrovsk region — 6,962;
• Odesa region — 6,197;
• Kyiv region — 4,947;
• Rivne region — 4,532;
• Transcarpathian region — 4,323;
• Vinnytsia region — 4,005;
• Ivano-Frankivsk region — 3,916;
• Kharkiv region — 3,798.

Making marriages

The leaders in terms of the number of marriages were:

• Kyiv — 9,392;
• Dnipropetrovsk region — 7,076;
• Odesa region — 4,896;
• Kyiv region — 4,848;
• Lviv region — 4,616;
• Kharkiv region — 4,148;
• Vinnytsia region — 3,362;
• Poltava region — 3,065;
• Cherkasy region — 3,001;
• Khmelnytskyi region — 2,925.

Divorce

Almost five times fewer married couples broke up — more than 15,500 throughout Ukraine.

Change of name, surname and patronymic

In addition, 4.6 thousand citizens changed their name, surname or patronymic. Most often, this procedure was carried out in:

• Kyiv — 709;
• Dnipropetrovsk region — 390;
• Lviv region — 329;
• Odesa region — 325;
• Kyiv region — 291.
