National Bank of Ukraine made public statistics of currency interventions for the period from August 11 to 15, 2025. According to the regulator, during this week the NBU sold USD 607.8 million on the interbank market. At the same time, the National Bank purchased only 60,000 dollars.
For comparison, in the previous reporting period, from August 4 to 8, the volume of currency sales was much larger and amounted to 842.6 million US dollars. This is $234.8 million more than in the second week of August. The volume of purchases then amounted to 50 thousand dollars, which is 10 thousand dollars less than in the week from August 11 to 15.
Thus, during the two weeks of August, the National Bank sold more than 1.45 billion US dollars, while the volume of currency purchases remained symbolic and did not exceed 110 thousand dollars.
As a reminder, on October 2, 2023, the National Bank of Ukraine announced the transition from a fixed hryvnia exchange rate regime. Starting from October 3, 2023, the official exchange rate of the dollar in Ukraine began to change again — for the first time since July 2022.
