Ukrainian law enforcement officers, together with their Indonesian colleagues, are establishing the circumstances of the alleged kidnapping and murder of 28-year-old Ukrainian citizen Igor Komarov. This was reported by the head of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police, Serhiy Storozhuk.
“In connection with the possible kidnapping of Ukrainian citizens in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region have initiated criminal proceedings under articles on illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping and extortion (Part 2 of Article 146, Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Indonesian law enforcement agencies are also investigating criminal proceedings on similar facts, as well as the circumstances of the murder of one of the citizens of Ukraine,” – stated law enforcement officer.
According to Storozhuk, cooperation has now been established with Indonesian law enforcement agencies through Interpol channels to clarify the circumstances of the possible kidnapping and murder of a Ukrainian, verify information about extortion from relatives, and also to identify human remains found on the territory of Indonesia.
The Indonesian police stated that, according to the results of a DNA examination, the dismembered body found on the coast of Bali belongs to 28-year-old Ukrainian Igor Komarov. Law enforcement officers are investigating the kidnapping and murder: one suspect has already been detained, six more are wanted.
At the end of February, information appeared on the Internet that Yermak Petrovsky and Igor Komarov, the sons of two businessmen from Dnipro, were kidnapped in Bali. It was reported that one of them managed to escape, and Komarov was tortured and a ransom of $10 million was demanded for him. It was also noted that a photo with geolocation published by the victim’s girlfriend, blogger Eva Mishalova, could have led to the kidnapping.
Videos also appeared on the Internet in which Igor Komarov claimed his involvement in the “Dnipro offices” (fraudulent call centers – ed.). In addition, he claimed that Oleksandr Petrovsky (Narik) was responsible for the security of these offices, receiving $15,000 per month from one office.
Also, according to him, previously SBU employees were involved in this business, as well as the former head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA and the current head of the Odessa OVA Serhiy Lysak. Komarov stated that under the patronage of “Narik” and Lysak, the “Dev’yatka” call center network operates in Dnipro.
