Donald Trump announced his intention to end trade and all relations with Spain

US President Donald Trump announced his intention to stop all trade with Spain due to its disagreement with the American military operation against Iran. This was reported by AFP.

Trump also said that he had instructed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant to stop “all relations” with Spain.

“We will stop all trade with Spain. We want nothing to do with Spain,” he told reporters in the Oval Office during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

According to the US president, “Spain has behaved terribly.” At the same time, he did not give specific examples of Madrid’s actions that served as the basis for such statements.

Previously, Spain denied the United States access to its air bases for “anything that is not provided for by the treaty and does not go beyond the UN Charter.”

Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Álvarez said that he had not received any requests from the United States to use the air bases in Rota and Moroni for strikes against Iran and did not expect “any consequences” due to the government’s position, which refuses to provide access to them for military operations.
