US President Donald Trump has commented positively on Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s meeting with Putin this week. Trump said this on May 20.
The US President was asked how he assessed the meeting between Xi Jinping and Putin, which took place shortly after his own visit to China.
“I think it’s good. I get along with both of them,” the head of the White House replied.
After that, Trump compared the receptions that were organized in China for him and for Putin.
“I don’t know if there was ceremony (organized for Putin. – Ed.) as impressive as mine. I watched. I think we outdid them,” Trump said.
Earlier, commenting on his trip to China, Trump said that he had discussed the war in Ukraine with President Xi Jinping. According to him, both leaders agreed that they wanted to stop the fighting.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed hope that Xi Jinping would call on Vladimir Putin to stop the war against Ukraine.
