The Polish government has prepared a new law that will allow Starlink to be paid for in Ukraine

The Polish government has prepared and submitted to the parliament a draft law that will allow the financing of Starlink satellite Internet services for Ukraine. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Maciej Duszyk, informs Biznes Alert.

Machei Duschyk expressed hope that the Seimas will consider the document during the next four-day session. After that, it can be sent to the Senate, and then to the president for signature. He also specified that the draft law should include provisions on social benefits for Ukrainian refugees and a system for verifying their place of residence. Currently, Polish legislation provides for the support of Starlink work for Ukraine until September 30, 2025.

Recall that at the end of August, Poland’s Digitalization Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski stated that the country could not continue to pay for Starlink due to President Karol Nawrocki’s veto of the law on the continuation of aid to Ukrainian refugees. He called it a “gift” for the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, since the disconnection of Ukraine from critical services directly benefits the aggressor.

Later, the head of the Office of the President of Poland, Zbigniew Bogutski, emphasized that he does not expect the Starlink internet in Ukraine, which is paid for by the Polish side, to be shut down. According to him, the parliament “effectively” will consider the presidential initiative in September, even before the end of the deadline.
