Poland is checking the leak on the Druzhba oil pipeline

In Poland, an investigation into the causes of the accident at the Druzhba oil pipeline, which was recorded in the area of the city of Pnewa in the Greater Poland Voivodeship in the west of the country, has been launched. About this reported Fire Service of Poland.

The spokesman of the Fire Service of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, Marcin Halaš, said that on Sunday morning, an atypical smell was detected on the outskirts of the city of Pnevy. As a result of the survey of the area, it became clear that there was a substance leak in this area. Firefighters quickly contacted the representatives of the oil pipeline operator, because the pipeline runs in this area.

“On the eastern side, the pipeline was blocked, on the western side – the remote system did not work, so manual blocking continues. A chemical team arrived on the scene, and an operative group of rescuers from the Greater Poland Voivodeship also left.”, – said Halash.

In response, the Druzhba operator preemptively stopped oil pumping at one of the stations on the affected section and began an inspection. According to rescuers, the leak does not pose a threat of explosion or ignition.

Due to the pipeline accident on the 129th kilometer of national road No. 92, the Main Inspectorate of National Roads and Motorways of Poland introduced alternate traffic. The operator of the oil pipeline is currently refraining from official comments on the causes of the incident.
