The Russian Federation can stop the suffering of civilians: the US State Department commented on the explosions in Crimea
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation summoned the US ambassador, Lynn Tracy, because of the missile strike that was carried out the day before on Sevastopol, which is temporarily occupied by Russia. At that time, the alarm was not announced in Crimea, and due to the downing of a missile by Russian air defense, its debris fell on the beach where civilians were resting. The United States responded to the note addressed to the ambassador. US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that Crimea is a sovereign Ukrainian territory, and Russia can stop the suffering of civilians at any moment.
“We provide weapons to Ukraine so that it can defend its sovereign territory from armed aggression. This includes Crimea, which, of course, is part of Ukraine.”, – noted the spokesman of the State Department.
Matthew Miller noted: Civilian casualties during war always cause grief and sympathy, but Russia can end this suffering today if it stops the occupation of sovereign Ukrainian territory and attacks on civilians.
