The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation detained and reported the suspicion to the former division commander of one of the military units in the Kherson region, who systematically demanded money from subordinates. About this informs press service of the department.
The lieutenant colonel actually “sold” vacations to servicemen, hiding their absence from the command. In addition, he demanded money, threatening military punishment for alleged violations of official discipline. The subordinates who became his victims paid not only money, but also provided various services, bought him household and computer equipment, as well as things for children.
According to operational data, in 2023-2024, the commander illegally received almost 1 million hryvnias in this way. Thanks to cooperation with military personnel, the SBI managed to expose the perpetrator.
The official was detained in Mykolaiv, he was declared a suspect for h. 3 Art. 368 and ch. 5th century 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving a particularly large bribe and exceeding official powers).
According to the sanctions of these articles, he faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. The court chose a preventive measure – detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of 1 million 200 thousand hryvnias. Procedural management in the case is carried out by the Kherson specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Southern region.
