Germany will pay significant compensation to residents of three regions of Ukraine

Germany is launching new financial support for Ukrainians who meet certain criteria. This program is aimed at helping internally displaced persons (IDPs), those who have returned to their homes, as well as supporting host communities in Sumy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions.

The initiative is implemented within the framework of the project “Viability+: Economic integration of IDPs and people affected by the conflict”, which is supported by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the International Organization for Migration. Funding is provided by the German Development Bank (KfW) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The project envisages several areas of assistance, including supporting small and medium-sized businesses and promoting the professional development of Ukrainians. In general, significant funds will be allocated for the restoration of economic activity in regions affected by the war and in need of special attention due to partial occupation and constant shelling.

What types of assistance are provided within the framework of the project:

The “Viability+” project includes the provision of grants for business development in Sumy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. In particular, it is planned to allocate:

  • 150 grants of up to 7,000 euros for micro-enterprises;
  • 90 grants of up to 20,000 euros for small businesses;
  • 45 grants of up to €15,000 for micro-enterprises aimed at launching new start-ups.

These grants aim to help local businesses recover from the effects of war, preserve jobs and create new opportunities for growth.

Professional support and training:

In addition to financial grants, the project provides assistance in professional training and professional development. IDPs, Ukrainians who have returned to their homes, youth, women and other community representatives of the three regions will be able to receive vouchers for educational courses.
