The State Bureau of Investigation detained the former deputy chairman of the Supreme Economic Court for the second time

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation for the second time detained the former deputy chairman of the Higher Economic Court of Ukraine within the framework of criminal proceedings regarding encroachment on the economic security of the state in the interests of the aggressor country.
According to the investigation, the person involved, using his own connections in the judicial system, reached an agreement with the judge of the Higher Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine. The judge, contrary to the previous legal position, recognized the request submitted by the prosecutor to extend the detention as not under the jurisdiction of the VAKS, and returned it.
Later, when the same petition was sent to the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv, the former judge facilitated the change of the preventive measure from detention to personal commitment. This created an opportunity to avoid responsibility and attempt to leave Ukraine. After receiving operational information about these actions, the employees of the SBI detained the ex-deputy chairman of the court immediately after the change of preventive measure. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
We will remind, he is a suspect in the case, which is being investigated under part. 1 Art. 255 and ch. 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The detainee is suspected of conspiring with the judge of the Economic Court of Kyiv, who was previously suspected of treason. According to the investigation, their actions were aimed at transferring 3 billion hryvnias to the aggressor state. The maximum penalty is up to 12 years of imprisonment. Procedural management in the case is carried out by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
