The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) exposed an employee of the Air Force University of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in violence against a cadet
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation exposed the commander of one of the training groups of the Air Defense Faculty of the Ground Forces of the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University in using physical violence against a cadet. Due to the security situation, the educational institution is temporarily operating in Volyn.
“According to the investigation, in September 2025, a 28-year-old commander of a training group at one of the universities in the Kharkiv region, temporarily operating in Volyn, beat a cadet during a lesson – he did not like the guy’s answer to a simple question from the multiplication table”, — the Prosecutor General’s Office noted.
The investigation established that, due to dissatisfaction with the answer, the serviceman punched the cadet several times in the torso and head. Later, in the corridor, he continued the beating, put the victim on his knees and hit him on the head again, accompanying his actions with insults. The cadet received minor injuries. An examination confirmed that the injuries were caused by the beating.
According to prosecutors, after the interrogations of witnesses began, the suspect threatened them and tried to persuade them to refuse to testify. Later, he informed the leadership about the alleged summons to the State Bureau of Investigation, but used this as an excuse to leave his place of service without permission during martial law. At the end of January 2026, he disappeared.
On February 16, the man was reported in absentia on suspicion under three articles – abuse of authority, obstruction of a witness, and desertion. Since he is in hiding, the report of suspicion was passed on to his close relatives in accordance with the requirements of the law. The sanctions of the incriminated articles provide for up to 12 years of imprisonment.
The suspect has been declared a state wanted person. The prosecutor’s office has applied to the court with a motion to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention and to grant permission for his detention.
