The Ukrainian military in Kurshchyna received a special status: details of the new law
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law establishing the status of Ukrainian military personnel participating in hostilities on the territory of Russia. About this reported People’s Deputy of Ukraine from the “Golos” faction Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
The law equates military personnel fighting in Kurshchyna with those on the front lines, providing them with the same social guarantees and benefits.
The document was supported by 321 people’s deputies.
People’s deputy of Ukraine from the faction “European Solidarity” Iryna Gerashchenko noted, that the new law expands social protection for servicemen of the following structures:
- Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- Other military formations and law enforcement bodies of special purpose;
- State bodies with special law enforcement functions;
- Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine;
- Intelligence bodies of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine;
- Intelligence bodies of central executive bodies that implement state policy in the sphere of state border protection;
- State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection;
- State border service.
We will remind that on August 6, Ukrainian troops began offensive operations in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. The Office of the President of Ukraine explained that the main goals of the operation are to transfer hostilities to the territory of Russia, disrupt the enemy’s logistics and demonstrate the inability of the Russian leadership. Western media also noted that the goal of the Armed Forces is to create a buffer zone that will help protect Ukraine from constant shelling, rather than long-term control over Russian territories.
