The United States and Russia plan to hold a meeting in Saudi Arabia in the coming days to discuss possible ways to end the war in Ukraine. As informs Reuters, citing a member of the US Congress and a source close to the organization of the meeting, US and Russian representatives are preparing for talks in the coming days.
Official comments from the US State Department have not yet been received.
It will be recalled that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, while attending the Munich Security Conference, noted that he plans to visit Saudi Arabia in the near future as part of a series of diplomatic meetings in the Middle East. At the same time, according to him, no negotiations with representatives of the USA or Russia are foreseen.
Earlier it became known that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for the first time. This conversation was a continuation of contacts between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
Currently, there are no details regarding the format of the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, but their preparation is causing a wide resonance in the international political space.
