The United States calls on Greece to transfer its Patriot systems to Ukraine

The United States appealed to Greece to transfer to Ukraine the Patriot air defense systems that were previously deployed in Saudi Arabia. About this informs Clash Report.

In addition, Washington is asking for a naval frigate to participate in operations against Houthi formations in the Red Sea. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Greece has supported Ukraine militarily, humanitarianly and diplomatically, while acting with caution so as not to aggravate relations with Russia.

Athens supplied Ukraine with BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles, small arms such as Kalashnikov assault rifles, ammunition, missile systems, as well as medicines and other humanitarian aid. The Greek side also supported EU sanctions against Russia and Ukraine’s aspiration for membership in the European Union.

However, unlike some NATO member states, Greece has been more restrained in transferring heavy or high-tech weapons, given its own security risks in the eastern Mediterranean.

We will remind, earlier on April 18, Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Ukraine is ready to purchase ten Patriot systems from the USA, and this agreement was discussed with Donald Trump.
