The United States started a war against the Yemeni Houthis: more than 30 civilians were killed, more than 100 were injured

The United States of America has launched a series of air and naval strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, hitting key military targets including radars, air defense systems and missile launchers. The main blows were delivered by F-18 fighters, which took off from the aircraft carrier “Harry S. Truman” in the Red Sea. During the operation, half-ton aerial bombs AGM-154 JSOW were used, each of which costs about 500 thousand US dollars.
According to information Reuters, as a result of the attacks, at least 31 people died, and another 101 people were injured. Most of the victims are civilians, including women and children. These data were announced by the spokesman of the Ministry of Health, which is under the control of the Houthis.
The night before, US President Donald Trump announced a large-scale military operation against the Iran-backed Houthi movement, in response to their regular attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea. Trump also warned Tehran of the need to immediately end support for this group, emphasizing the threat to international shipping.
As the agency reports with reference to an American official, the operation may last for several weeks. In turn, the Houthi Politburo called the US strikes a “war crime” and promised to respond with “escalation upon escalation.” The representative of the movement emphasized that “the armed forces of Yemen are fully ready to respond.”
Residents of the Yemeni capital Sana’a said that the strikes were on a building used by the Houthis as a fortress. Military facilities in the city of Taiz in southwestern Yemen were also hit. One of the consequences of the attack was an attack on a power plant in the city of Dahyan in Saada province, which led to a large-scale power outage. The city is considered one of the residences of Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi.
The official representative of the Ansar Allah movement, Muhammad Abdel Salam, said that these strikes will not affect the Houthis’ plans to attack Israeli ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. He stressed that the naval blockade imposed by Yemen in support of Gaza applies only to Israeli vessels and will continue until humanitarian aid is delivered to Gaza residents in accordance with the terms of the cease-fire agreement.
The Al Arabiya TV channel reported that the US strikes were aimed at military facilities of the Houthis in the city of Taiz controlled by them, the administrative center of the province of the same name. The attack is part of a broader United States strategy to secure sea lanes and neutralize the threat posed by Houthi forces in the region. The Houthi movement said its response would be “tough and deterrent”, stressing its readiness for further confrontation with US forces if the attacks continue.
