The United States supports Israel’s response to Iran’s attack, but not on nuclear facilities: Biden

The United States recognized Israel’s right to respond after Iran’s October 1 missile attack, but stressed that such actions should not include strikes on Tehran’s nuclear facilities. Responding to reporters’ questions on October 2 about the possibility of US support for strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, President Joe Biden clearly stated: “No.”

He stressed that Israel’s response must be proportionate to avoid further escalation of the conflict. Biden also noted that Washington will continue dialogue with the Israeli side to clarify their next steps in response to the attack by Iran, adding: “We will discuss with the Israelis what steps they plan to take.”

In addition, the American president emphasized that the United States plans to introduce new sanctions against Iran in response to the missile attack on October 1, emphasizing the determination to respond to this attack.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on October 1 that Iran faces “serious consequences” due to the attack, and assured that Washington will work closely with Israel to ensure appropriate measures to ensure security and stability in the region.
