The Verkhovna Rada approved Tetyana Berezhna as Minister of Culture
On October 21, the Verkhovna Rada, during a plenary session, approved Tetyana Berezhna as Minister of Culture and Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy. Her candidacy was supported by 266 MPs, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported.
Earlier, the Servant of the People faction voted for Berezhna’s appointment, and the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy also provided a positive opinion.
In her address to parliament, Tetyana Berezhna emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage, including the evacuation and return of valuables illegally removed during the war. Particular attention will be paid to attracting additional resources to the cultural sphere through grant programs, international cooperation, credit instruments for creative industries, as well as the adoption of a law on patronage, which will allow businesses to receive tax breaks for investments in cultural projects.
At the same time, Berezhna emphasized the need to strengthen the independence and sustainability of cultural institutions so that they can perform their public functions even in cases where their activities do not bring profit.
Tetyana Berezhna is a lawyer by education and has a law practice. During 2022, she served as Deputy Minister of Economy to Yulia Svyrydenko, where she was responsible for labor and employment policy, including labor relations reform, job creation, and veterans’ integration programs into the labor market.
In addition, Berezhna served as Ukraine’s Commissioner General at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, where she was responsible for the country’s presentation and organization of the national pavilion.
