There will be no meeting in the Ramstein format with the participation of the heads of state in the near future: ZDF

The meeting of the contact group on Ukraine’s defence in the Ramstein format, which was planned earlier, with the participation of the leaders of the countries, will not take place in the near future. This was reported by the German TV channel ZDF.

According to the publication, US President Joe Biden will arrive in Germany on Thursday evening, but his visit will be ‘quiet’ and without large-scale public events. The official programme is only scheduled for Friday, and Biden plans to meet with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin. The programme of the visit has been significantly shortened, which also means that a meeting in the Ramstein format is not expected in the near future.

At the same time, Washington correspondent Elmar Tevesen notes that decisions in the Ramstein format can only be made after the results of the US presidential election are announced.

Earlier it became known that the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s defence was postponed to another day due to Hurricane Milton, which hit the US state of Florida. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed the postponement, expressing hope for further agreement on the date of the visit.
