There will be no tours: the palace of the King of Great Britain remains closed to visitors

King Charles’ main London residence, Clarence House, will be closed to visitors this summer. Traditionally, British monarchs allowed tours of the palace once a year. However, tourists cannot get to the residence for the fifth year in a row.
Previously, excursions were canceled due to the coronavirus, now – due to a lack of staff to receive tourists.
During the quarantine imposed by the pandemic, Clarence House had to cut its budget and 150 members of the estate’s staff were made redundant.

The current king of Great Britain moved to the residence back in 2003. Since then, Clarence House has hosted visitors every summer during the royal family’s holiday. The excursion lasted 45 minutes. During this time, tourists had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the structure of the palace and see with their own eyes how the king lives. Such visits attracted foreigners and brought income to the country’s budget.
“Canceling tours to Clarence House is a real problem, given that tourism is the UK’s fifth largest industry and third largest export generator,” he said. Bernard Donahue, director of the Association of Tourist Attractions of the Country.
