Trump and Scholz discussed the war in Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and US President-elect Donald Trump held a telephone conversation during which they discussed Russian aggression against Ukraine. About this informs official website of the German government.

The main topic of the conversation was security challenges in Europe caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“They agreed that Russia’s war against Ukraine has been going on for too long and that it is important to get on the path to an honest, just and lasting peace as soon as possible.”, the message says

Chancellor Scholz emphasized that Germany will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression “as long as it takes.” According to him, this is necessary for the restoration of international order and stability in the region.

For his part, Donald Trump once again stated that he is ready to end the war after returning to the White House, and perhaps even earlier. He made similar statements earlier, emphasizing his desire to act as a mediator to achieve a quick settlement of the conflict.
