US President Donald Trump reported, which started preparations for the meeting between Volodymyr Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.
“At the conclusion of the meetings, I called President Putin and began preparations for a meeting between President Putin and President Zelensky at a location to be determined later. After this meeting, we will have a trilateral meeting between the two presidents, as well as myself.”— Trump said.
According to him, during the negotiations with Zelenskyi and European leaders, the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine, which partners will provide in coordination with the United States, was discussed.
At the same time, Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz stated, that the meeting of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi with the Russian leader Volodymyr Putin should take place within the next two weeks, but he is “not sure that Putin will have the courage.”
Mertz made his statement immediately after the meeting with Donald Trump at the White House. The chancellor emphasized that the negotiations between the European leaders and the presidents of Ukraine and the USA “not only met expectations, but also exceeded them.”
Meanwhile, Russia has not confirmed the meeting between Putin and Zelensky. Putin’s aide spoke about “the idea of considering the possibility of raising the level of representatives of Moscow and Kyiv at the negotiations” and declared support for direct contacts between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine.
