Trump is ready for a deal with China on tariffs

US President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to negotiate with the Chinese side in order to reach a trade agreement amid a conflict between the world’s two leading economies over tariffs. About this reported White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt.

“The president, as I said from the podium a few days ago, would be very gracious if China was willing to make a deal with the United States. The president has made it clear that he is open to a deal with China.”Leavitt noted.

She stressed that if Beijing continues to retaliate, “it will not be good for China.” At the same time, Leavitt refrained from answering the question of whether President Trump expects the first step from China.

“We will leave this matter to our national security team to continue those discussions. And, as always, in our commitment to transparency, we will provide updates as we move forward.”, – the spokeswoman of the White House concluded.

We will remind that on April 10, the White House announced the introduction by the United States of tariffs in the amount of 145% on the import of goods from China. In response, the Chinese side announced an increase in tariffs on American products to 125% and stated that it is ready to take further countermeasures in the event of continued US actions that harm the national interests of the PRC.
