Trump limits Musk’s powers after mass layoffs

During a meeting with the Cabinet of Ministers, US President Donald Trump said that billionaire Elon Musk only has the right to make recommendations to government departments, but not to make personnel decisions. About this informs Political.
The meeting came after a wave of mass layoffs and threats to civil servants by Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The department’s work has faced legal challenges and drawn criticism from Democratic lawmakers and some Republicans.
“The president’s message is the first major step to curtail Musk’s powers. Under Trump’s new directive, DOGE and its staff are to play an advisory role, but the final decisions on personnel, policy and pace of implementation should be made by Cabinet secretaries,” – the message says.
Musk was also present at the meeting and agreed with Trump’s position, admitting that DOGE “made some mistakes.” At the same time, the US president emphasized that his priority is to keep qualified employees in the government and avoid mass layoffs.
