Trump’s 2025 inauguration: loud statements and interesting moments (video)

January 20, 2025 will go down in history as a day that will change not only the US political landscape, but also global geopolitics. Donald Trump, having become president for the second time, delivered a speech that became the main topic of discussion in the world community within a few hours of its delivery. This speech was not just a formal outline of a political course – it was a manifesto full of ambition, determination and loud statements that at the same time impressed and surprised. But not only the president’s words attracted attention, the reactions of those present at the ceremony and interesting moments that added special dynamics to the event were no less interesting.
Donald Trump’s inaugural speech: interesting facts and loud statements
Donald Trump returned to the post of US president for the second time, setting several historical records at once. He was 78 years and 220 days old when he was sworn in, making him the nation’s oldest leader in history, as Joe Biden took part in the inauguration ceremony at the age of 78 years and 61 days. However, this is not the only feature of his second presidential term. Trump became the first president in the United States to receive a formal conviction and still manage to return to the Oval Office, combining the status of “ex-president” and “newly elected” in a unique political comeback.
His inaugural speech also made history – it became the longest in the last 96 years, containing 2,879 words and lasting less than 30 minutes. That’s exactly double his speech in 2017 and one of the longest speeches in 96 years. Thus, Trump surpassed all his predecessors in almost a century. For comparison, the shortest inaugural speech in US history was George Washington’s second speech, which contained only 135 words and lasted less than two minutes. And the record for length is held by William Harrison, whose speech consisted of 8,460 words and lasted an hour and 45 minutes.
Trump’s speech surprised many with its length, but even more so with its content, filled with ambitious statements, contradictory promises and a bold vision for the country’s future. Trump used his time to outline not only domestic political priorities, but also the global challenges facing America. His words had a loud resonance, becoming the object of heated discussions in society and among experts.
Donald Trump’s inauguration remarks were mostly technical in nature, but his speech was full of big announcements and symbolic promises. Standing next to him at the ceremony were former President Joe Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris, Vice President JD Vance, First Lady Melania Trump and Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson,
Trump began his speech with a bright declaration: “America’s Golden Age Begins Right Now.” These words caused applause among his supporters and at the same time restrained reactions from opponents. They sounded like a manifesto, a declaration of a new era for the country, which outlined a course for the restoration of America’s greatness, promising to end the country’s “decline” and return it to the status of a sovereign and independent state.
The President assured that henceforth the United States would prosper, be the admiration and envy of other nations, and at the same time would no longer allow itself to be taken advantage of. “Every day of my administration, I will put America first,” – emphasized Trump, emphasizing the unchanging nature of his priorities.
Among the main tasks, he named the creation of a proud, free and prosperous state. In his speech, Trump assured that America will become stronger, greater and more unique than ever before. His words, full of confidence and ambition, underlined his readiness to implement the promised changes.
In his speech, Trump touched on issues that have become symbolic of his political platform. He called his program a “revolution of common sense” and assured that the United States would no longer sacrifice its interests for global agreements or unjustified military interventions. Noting that the new government will work exclusively for its citizens, the president emphasized: America’s success will be determined not only by victories in wars, but also by conflicts that can be avoided.
It was not without sharp criticism of the previous administration. Highlighting the failures of the Biden administration to solve the crises, Trump said that this would change from the first days of his presidency. This came against the background of the fact that just a few minutes ago, Trump shook hands with Biden, publicly thanking him for his work. The presence of Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at the ceremony created an additional contrast between the solemnity of the event and the sharpness of the words of the new president.
It should be especially noted that despite previous statements about the desire to achieve an early end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, the president did not touch on this issue in his speech. The only indirect reference to this topic was the statement about the need to avoid involvement in conflicts that do not benefit the United States. Trump emphasized that he wants to go down in history as a “peacemaker and unifier.” In his speech he stated:
“I am happy to report that as of yesterday, the day before I take office, hostages in the Middle East are returning home to their families. Thank you. America will reclaim its rightful place as the greatest, most powerful, and most respected nation on Earth.”
In addition, he said that all military personnel discharged due to the refusal of vaccination against COVID-19 will be reinstated this week with full severance pay. Donald Trump emphasized that the main mission of the American armed forces is to defeat the enemies of the United States.
“Just like in 2017, we will once again create the strongest army the world has ever seen. We will measure our success not only by the battles we win, but also by the wars we end and, perhaps most importantly, the wars we never enter.” – stressed the president.
His words sounded like a call to renew America’s military power and rethink approaches to global security. There were also specific promises in his speech, in particular, the return of servicemen released due to the gender policy of the previous government. This decision received a mixed reaction from society, but it became one of the key points of his program.
Considerable attention was paid to space issues in the speech. Trump announced that the United States would pave the way for the stars and become the first in history to send astronauts to “plant the Stars and Stripes on the planet Mars.” This statement caused a violent reaction from his supporters, including the famous entrepreneur Elon Musk. This ambitious goal became a symbol of America’s desire for new space achievements and technological leadership.
Trump also declared a state of emergency on the southern border, saying his goal was to protect law-abiding Americans and stop illegal immigration. Trump has vowed to restore the “Remain in Mexico” policy and deploy military forces to the southern border to fight the “invasion.” He said the cartels would be designated as international terrorist organizations and that the US would use the 1798 law to fight international criminal groups that harm American cities.
“We will stop the flow of illegals from mental hospitals and prisons around the world and return millions of criminals to the countries from which they came.” Trump emphasized.
The President also announced a national emergency in the energy sector, citing the need to overcome record inflation and lower energy prices. Trump promised to “drill, drill and drill” to increase oil production, fill strategic reserves to the maximum and turn the US into a world energy exporter. He also said he would end the Green Deal and repeal the electric car mandate to save the American auto industry.
“From now on, every American will be able to buy cars of their choice,” – concluded the president.
In addition, Trump announced a large-scale reform of the US trade system aimed at ensuring that American citizens are prioritized. He suggested that instead of taxing Americans to enrich other countries, they should tax foreign goods. For this purpose, the External Revenue Service will be created, which will deal with the collection of all duties and revenues.
An important statement for Americans was that the Trump administration will work for the benefit of every citizen, regardless of race, gender or age. He thanked African-Americans and Latinos for their support during the election, promising that their voices would be heard. Trump announced the signing of an executive order banning censorship and restrictions on free speech, and stressed that law and order would return to American cities. He also promised to stop social experiments with racial and gender ideology, noting that from now on the United States will recognize only two genders – male and female.
“We will create a society that values people based on their merits, not the color of their skin or their gender.” Trump emphasized.
At the same time, the president said that the US would regain control of the Panama Canal, which had been handed over to Panama “foolishly”. He stressed that American ships overpay for passage through the canal, and this must change. Trump also promised to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of Mexico, and to return Mount Denali in Alaska to its historical name, Mount McKinley.
Alluding to the assassination attempt, Trump said that his life was spared not by accident, but so that he could restore the greatness of America.
“I believe it is my destiny to bring this country back to its best days.” – stressed the president.
A political action that turned into a meme extravaganza
The inauguration of Donald Trump became not only a political event, but also a real interesting spectacle, which immediately gave rise to a number of memes and viral moments. Starting from the inconveniences during the performance of the national anthem and ending with the antics of the guests, the ceremony gave the Internet a lot of reasons for discussion.
First, the protocol of the ceremony was changed. Joe Biden left the Capitol without the traditional descent of the stairs, which was another indication of the tension in the political environment. At the same time, Trump, barely finishing his speech, sent a message to his supporters: “I am now the president”, accompanied by a call for financial support for the new campaign. At the end of the inauguration ceremony, he presented the members of Congress with commemorative pens, emphasizing the symbolism of the beginning of a new political stage.
One of the most talked-about incidents during the inauguration was the sudden interruption of the US national anthem. After a few seconds of awkward pause, when everyone seemed to freeze, the choir continued to sing a cappella. The situation sparked a flurry of jokes and speculation on social media, but also added an unexpected warmth and sincerity to the moment.
However, the real star of viral memes was the moment when the president tried to kiss his wife, first lady Melania Trump. The wide brim of her hat made this task almost impossible. After several attempts, Trump symbolically kissed the air next to her face. Later, the president humorously commented on this incident: “She was almost blown away by the wind in that hat she wore.”
Mark Zuckerberg, who got into a curious situation, attracted no less attention. The cameras caught the moment he glanced at the cleavage of Jeff Bezos’ fiancee, Laura Sanchez. Her choice of outfit — a plunging jacket and lace bustier — sparked controversy online. On the one hand, some users admired the boldness of the image, on the other hand, they considered it inappropriate for such an event.
The uncontrollably cheerful Elon Musk next to the always sad Barron Trump (son of the president) also became “viral stars”. Musk couldn’t contain his emotions after Trump’s inauguration speech, especially after his promise to conquer Mars. He was literally jumping for joy, shouting something on stage. Mask’s gesture, when he raised his hand, caused a wave of indignation among many – those present saw it as a Nazi salute. However, Musk immediately explained that this movement was misunderstood, it means “giving people my heart.”

So Trump’s inauguration and speech were both predictable and unconventional. Trump’s speech was not a typical inaugural speech with lofty rhetoric, but was filled with concrete promises and criticism. His style, as always, remained direct, sometimes provocative, but at the same time decisive and oriented towards an audience that expects actions, not words. The invitation to the ceremony of the richest people in the world indicates the formation of a new type of oligarchy in the USA. The presence alongside politicians of billionaires who wield enormous influence over the country’s tech sector and economy created an atmosphere that contrasted sharply with Trump’s rhetoric about protecting “ordinary Americans.” Such guests emphasize inequality in society and hint at the growth of their influence on political processes. This could undermine the credibility of Trump’s promises to “drain the swamp” and protect the interests of the middle class.
On the other hand, inviting such iconic figures can be a strategic move. Probably, this demonstrates the desire of the president to unite the country by involving the most influential people of our time in the dialogue. However, the question remains open: will this strategy really work for the benefit of the people, or will it only reinforce the feeling that the country is run by an elite detached from real life? And although during his inauguration, Trump did not mention our country a single word, the main question that worries all Ukrainians is whether his policy will bring the long-awaited peace. There is great hope that it will soon become a reality, because immediately after the inauguration, Trump instructed his aides to organize a telephone conversation with Putin, which indicates the real steps of the American leader.
