Trump says he’s giving Russia 10 days to end war against Ukraine

US President Donald Trump announced, which gives Russia ten days to end the war against Ukraine, otherwise tariffs and other measures to influence the Russian Federation will be introduced.

“You want a big sensation? Ten days from today. We have a sensation. And then, you know, we’re going to impose tariffs and other measures, and I don’t know if that’s going to affect Russia, because Putin obviously wants to probably continue the war.”, – the US President stated.

Trump said he was unsure about the effectiveness of tariffs and sanctions in changing Russia’s position on the war in Ukraine, but confirmed his intention to take action: tariffs and other restrictions “we will implement,” Trump said. The president also expressed confidence that he is not worried about possible fluctuations in the oil market, as the US has “a lot of oil reserves” and will “increase production” if necessary.

At the same time, the oil market has already reacted to Trump’s statement: the price of Brent oil rose by more than 3% to $72 per barrel. At the same time, Russian Urals oil cost $65 per barrel. The ten-day deadline announced by Trump expires on August 8.

US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce clarified, that Trump also raised the issue of secondary sanctions against countries that continue to cooperate with Russia.

“There are some countries that benefit from buying Russian oil. But it’s up to the president. We know that’s in his arsenal. There are a lot of things he can do. He’s been patient, and that may have been misinterpreted by some people. And I think the time for misinterpretation is over.”, – emphasized Tammy Bruce.
