Two police officers under suspicion for negligence during terrorist attack in Kyiv: Prosecutor General’s Office

Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko informed that two patrol police officers, whose actions during the terrorist act in the capital were qualified as official negligence, were reported suspicious.

According to the investigation, a crew of law enforcement officers arrived at the scene after a report of shooting and found a critical situation: a wounded man, woman, and child needed help. Despite the obvious threat to the lives of the victims and their helpless condition, the patrol officers did not take appropriate measures to provide emergency assistance or evacuation.

The released video footage from the law enforcement officers’ body cameras recorded the dramatic circumstances of the incident. The footage shows a little boy in shock next to his injured relatives, pleading with the police: “Don’t save me, help my dad.”

The investigation found that instead of fulfilling their direct duties to save people, the suspects left the victims at the scene of the terrorist attack. Investigative actions are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident and the degree of responsibility of each of the law enforcement officers who were on duty during the tragedy.
