Two Ukrainians suspected of spying on critical infrastructure detained in Poland

Two Ukrainian citizens suspected of spying on critical infrastructure have been detained in Poland. This was reported by RMF 24, citing Jacek Dobrzyński, the press secretary of the Minister-Coordinator of the Special Services.

A 32-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were detained in Katowice on suspicion of collaborating with foreign intelligence. The operation was carried out jointly by the Military Counterintelligence Service, the Internal Security Agency and the Lublin District Prosecutor’s Office.

According to Dobrzyński, the detainees were engaged in “assessing the military potential” of Poland. They are accused of installing devices to monitor critical infrastructure, including hidden cameras along the routes of transporting weapons and military equipment to Ukraine. In addition, they collected data on Polish servicemen. During the search, a large number of communication devices were seized from the suspects.

Both detainees were charged with espionage and taken into custody for a period of three months. They face up to eight years in prison.
